Another birthday post.
Is it wrong to buy a shop birthday cake?
I was looking in tesco yesterday and they were really cute but the sell by date was mid October so I was thinking they must be full of crappy preservatives.
Then I seen Clare's cake and read that Mandy made her own so was thinking maybe I need to get my arse into gear and make one.
Any tips??

I always buy shop bought ones. I don't really have time to bake my own. Its not going to hurt them occasionally

I'll be watching this with interest! I'm useless at baking but I always wanted to try and make a masterpiece!

Lol Clare I love your honesty.
I've tried to bake a few times and failed as my cakes are usually rubbery and very heavy but I think if I follow a recipe out of one of my 3000 baking books it might work.
It isn't going to be a great creation I'm just thinking round with icing

You can buy premade cakes with plain icing, then you just decorate :-)

I love making cakes! You could just make a plain or chocolate sponge then buy buttercream frosting and decorate with sweets or supermarkets sell little decorations. Doesn't have to be fancy
