I'm looking to get either a baby sling or carrier to put lily in so I can walk the dog without taking the pram, does anyone have any reccomendations at all?

I did a lot of research on this before and V arrived. I finally ordered a Mei Tai on Sunday evening I'm hoping it will be delivered today.

I had a mothercare baby carrier that they could face you or outwards and it was comfy enough. I guess it depends how much you want to spend.

I have a baby bjorn, and it's still going strong after 3 years. I still put Sam in it now (and he's nearly 15 months old) if we go on a walk with the dog somewhere and the pushchair isn't practical - he loves it!

I had the mothecare one that Jade had. I have to be honest and say I didn't use it very much but that has more to with the fact I had a c section and it hurt to begin with and then Jamie was already 11lb by 3 weeks and 20lb by 4 months so was a real heffalump to carry around. I did find it useful for popping round the shops but I think that's pretty much the only time I used it

Sorry to quote you and perhaps start a debate here but while doing my research everyone I had spoken to told me not to buy a Baby Bjorn - Something to do with this particular carrier being bad for the babies hip and leg development.

Oh gosh, I hadn't even realised they had a bad reputation. I always thought they had a really great one, hence why I got one. I have the baby bjorn active carrier (I think they make a few styles). I certainly never noticed any problems. Noah lived in ours for the first few months - he was so clingy and I used to cook, clean, hoover, wee(!) wearing it, and he walked at 12 months. And Sam walked at 10 months, so no problems with hip/leg development. It's quite comfy too. Like I said, Sam's nearly 15 months now and I can still walk around for an hour or so with him in it, and it doesn't hurt my back too much.

I think if it were true they wouldn't be allowed to sell them.. So I'm a little confused, I went with what people were recommending, Word of mouth and reviews sell a product after all. Word on the stress is the Mei Tai is a good one.. I wasn't too keen on the wrapping but it does seem a lot more simplified compare to the scarfs or ring slings.
Ideally I would love a sling like the bjorn but after the bad rep and the increasing price as they get 'better' I could do it.

We have a baby bjorn, Oh finds it duper comfy, but for me it pulls on my neck and i want it off within five minutes of wearing it!

We also have a Closer baby ring sling thing. OH hates this as it hurts his lower back but i love it for comfort and have been able to walk a couple of miles in it. Does take a bit of getting used to, getting lo into position though. Found the breastfeeding position for it rubbish though, Joshy found it too constricting and would not entertain the idea at all!

Vinnie is still a little on the small size for this sling but there is a position you can put a new born in. You need to frog there legs. Not easy by yourself.

I have tried twice today but I couldn't get the shoulder straps tight enough while holding him. I think I either need practice or DH just to hold him on the front with one hand while I pull the straps tights. Its new and the thick straps are still quite stiff, If that makes sense.
I will keep you posted on how it goes.

I shouldn't post this by my friend sent me a link to one going cheap on ebay..

I'm probably gonna go for it as lily is that bit older and holds her head perfectly so we should be good!
