The move cot to bed
When do you do it.
We thinking of buying Lucas a toddler bed and then Tamsyn can have his cot.
Be around new year, he will be 19months old then and I think thts ok.
I was thinking of buying Tamsyn her own cotbed but seems silly when Lucas will be in a bed oon anyway
So what do you think toddler bed or cotbed

Re: The move cot to bed
We moved Jamie at the start of the summer holidays so he would have been 19 months. We got him a toddler bed. His been fine. We had one night when he kept getting up and running out of the French doors into the garden and then the kitchen but his been great other than that. He just curls up and goes to sleep. Its only in the last week his been getting up in the morning as well. He used to yell 'Ma I stuck' until one of us went in and then he'd get up. Now he comes in and gets us in the morning though

This one or one shaped like a car? We have that one up there and it was a nightmare to put together (think it took us four hours and some arguing) but Jamie loves it and its really good for him

Mind you according to the reviews everyone else found it really simple to put together so either we had a dodgy bed or we're just really bad at it

Re: The move cot to bed
Oliver was 18mth old. He went stright into a single bed. Its a low one we got off ebay BN for £55
We had to do it then as he was growing out of his cot - quickly. He was waking himslef up when he'd roll over etc.
He adapted quickly though

He sleeps at the top of his cot, it's rare to find him stretched out, he's normally in a ball sideways, we said other day, Tamsyn could go in bottom and they would have enough space lol.
We seen a racing car one in tesco but I'm thinking I might go more neutral so I can theme as he gets older

I havent even thought of putting moo into a bed yet. Why do people do it, is it because thye run out of room, try to escape? obviously I understand having another child but moo will be at least 3 by then so how do I know?

Ellie is 3 and we're only just doing it. She's perfectly happy in her cot and our plan was to make it into a bed but she would never let us. However we have a spare room and in occasion she asks gets in the bed and sleeps there! Not ideal as this spare room is not very girly!

We moved Jamie because he was running out of room (he only has a small cot) and it was affecting his sleep. Also, he gets up really early and we were hoping he would just get out of bed and play with his toys but he comes in to us. Finally, we knew he was getting close to ready and the summer holidays seemed the best time to do it as I wouldn't be at work if things went badly. If we didn't do it then we would have to have waited until next summer if we wanted the holidays (christmas is always a bit manic and we're away at Easter)

Re: The move cot to bed
I remember doing rich because he climbed out.
I'm use not sure whether to do it when Tamsyn needs cot, be around Xmas or buy another cotbed.
But he's started climbing and at moment it might be safer to do it sooner

We moved Immi out at 18months as she was climbing out her cot and hurting herself.
Clare, not sure how close you are but Ikea have some pretty decent childrens beds for a good price
