Grandad

I know some of you know but my Grandad has terminal cancer (which they thought hadn't spread until they opened him up to operate) and is currently in hospital having chemo. Went to see him tonight. I couldn't over the weekend as I was ill. I did have a bit of a cry about it when I came out. He looks surprisingly well though. His giving the nurses a hard time because he keeps wanting to escape to smoke (but they all seem to love him) which is reassuring. His brother is in the room next door and looks awful. Its helping Grandad though because his worrying about him and trying to look after him so not really having time to worry about himself

Aww i'm sorry, i didn't know Tam It's good he's not looking too bad at the moment and i'm sure having someone else to worry about keeps him occupied.

Hey I bet it's nice to see him looking better than you thought. I though he didn't want treatment. Has he changed his mind xx

Oh hun i'm so sorry your grandads not well, we lost my aunt to cancer a few years back its heartbreaking!
Glad to hear hes keeping the nurses on their toes lol x

Yeah didn't I tell you Pen? He suddenly decided he wanted chemo - I think because he was finding golf hard - but none of us were entirely sure he'd turn up on Friday. He is coming home either tomorrow or Wednesday. He has to have another 3 lots but he only has to go in for a day for that and then he'll be able to have the rest at home (they're all 5 day treatments) and then they're going to scan him to see if its stopped the tumour spreading. I think that's all they're really expecting rather then thinking it might shrink it. If it doesn't make any difference then he says he doesn't want any more which is fair enough

That's great news tams. I know how upset you were when he first found out and didn't want treatment. I really hope it goes well xx

Im so sorry about your grandad hun. My grandads also extremely poorly atm, had a seizure yesterday and we dont think he has long left at all and its extremely upsetting. I hope hes ok and its good hes decided he wants treatment x

I remember you saying he was ill Amy. I'm sorry his got worse.

It sounds awful but one of the toughest things I've found with Grandad is that his only 9 years older than Dad so its made me consider that as well (although Dad is only 62 so hardly old)

He has cancer as well (although a different kind). His is much further advanced. His in for chemo as well at the moment but isn't really eating or drinking and Grandad is trying to find things for him to eat
