Not at all. Jamie speaks loads at nursery now but up until he was about 19 months wouldn't despite the fact he was talking in short sentences at home. He still doesn't tend to say much when his around new people. I think they just like to get their confidence up first

Totally agree. I think they say the most around their parents as that is who they feel safe with, and as they get more confident the circle of people they talk to grows. Or at least that is how it has worked for Sophia. Used to frustrate me so much as nursery would say she wasnt speaking yet, yet at home, she was speaking LOADS! And it felt like they didnt believe me!

But yeah, if i was out and wanted her to speak, that would be when she was sure to completely clam up!

I reckon he doesn't talk to childminder just to wind her up lol

All kids act differently at home to childcare/school.
Shows he's a very happy, content little boy :-)

I do find this too, he speaks well with family and his little friends, but when it comes to strangers he goes all shy and doesnt speak lol. It is totally normal.
